Durable High-density Rock Wool Boards With Splendid Resistance To Impact And Fire
Rock wool boards are produced using natural minerals like basalt as raw materials. The rocks are melted at high temperatures, then spun into fibers via centrifugal force. The density of rock wool board is the key indicator determining its performance and application. Products with different densities show significant differences in strength, insulation properties, and cost. High-density rock wool boards have a density of 120-200 kg/m³. Their thermal conductivity is slightly higher, ranging from 0.048 to 0.055 W/(m·K), and their insulation effect is weaker than that of low and medium-density products but can still meet basic insulation needs. Their compressive strength is ≥150 kPa, and some can reach more than 200 kPa, with strong impact resistance, capable of bearing large loads.
Excellent Performance
The fibers are tightly interwoven, with low shrinkage rate at high temperatures, and the fire resistance rating can reach 2-4 hours, making them suitable for long-term load-bearing or high-temperature environments. They also have strong aging resistance and weathering resistance, with a long service life (usually ≥20 years). Their advantages include high strength and high stability, making them usable as load-bearing insulation materials suitable for scenarios with high requirements for structural strength. Our products have outstanding fire resistance and safety, being not easily deformed at high temperatures, making them ideal materials for firewalls and fire barriers. Meanwhile, they have good weather resistance, being able to be directly exposed to the outdoors (for a short period) or humid environments, such as underground garages, without additional reinforcement.
Extensive Applications
They are mainly used in the insulation of load-bearing parts, such as ground insulation (floor heating base), external wall insulation of basements (bearing soil pressure), and heavy-duty roof areas (such as roofs with solar panels installed). They are also used in key fire protection parts such as fire barriers (preventing vertical spread of fire) in high-rise buildings and filling materials for firewalls, with a fire resistance rating of more than 3 hours. Additionally, they are applicable to industrial medium and high-temperature scenarios such as the outer insulation of industrial kilns (≤300℃) and the insulation of heavy equipment foundations, combining insulation and structural support.
Comparison of Rock Wool Boards in Different Density
Category | Parameters | Performance | Advantages | Main Application Scenarios |
Low-Density Rock Wool Board | Density 40-80 kg/m³; thermal conductivity 0.038-0.045 W/(m·K); compressive strength 30-80 kPa; noise reduction coefficient (NRC) 0.7-0.9 | Excellent thermal insulation, low strength, poor flexural resistance, lightweight and fluffy, Class A1 non-combustible but prone to shrinkage at high temperatures | High insulation efficiency, low cost, easy to carry and cut | Non-load-bearing indoor insulation (wall interlayers, attics, etc.); sound-absorbing filling in conference rooms, machine rooms, etc.; insulation for air conditioning ducts and low-temperature water pipes |
Medium-Density Rock Wool Board | Density 80-120 kg/m³; thermal conductivity 0.042-0.050 W/(m·K); compressive strength 80-150 kPa; fire resistance rating 1-2 hours | Good thermal insulation, moderate strength to bear slight loads, some with moisture resistance, better high-temperature stability than low-density type | Balanced overall performance, wide application range, high cost-effectiveness, good construction compatibility | External wall insulation of buildings (mainly multi-storey buildings); insulation for non-heavy-load roof areas; insulation for hot water pipes and medium-low temperature industrial pipes |
High-Density Rock Wool Board | Density 120-200 kg/m³; thermal conductivity 0.048-0.055 W/(m·K); compressive strength ≥150 kPa; fire resistance rating 2-4 hours | Thermal insulation meets basic needs, high strength, impact resistance, low shrinkage at high temperatures, strong weather resistance | High strength and stability, outstanding fire safety, good weather resistance to adapt to complex environments | Insulation for load-bearing parts (ground, external walls of basements, etc.); fire barriers and firewalls in high-rise buildings; insulation for industrial kilns and heavy equipment |
